"The Flowers of the Forest are a' wede away".

The English for ance, by guile wan the day,
The Flooers o' the Forest, that fought aye the foremost,
The pride o' oor land lie cauld in the clay.
"Flowers of the Forest", noto anche come "The Lament", è un brano popolare scozzese originariamente scritto per commemorare la sconfitta dell'esercito scozzese nella battaglia di Flodden nel 1513. Il testo di Jean Elliot fu aggiunto alla melodia nel 1756. Oggi il brano viene eseguito, spesso nella versione solo strumentale per cornamusa, nei funerali e, nei paesi del Commonwealth, durante il "Remembrance Day" per commemorare i caduti in guerra.
